Welcome to JulesStuff

I am a maker of THINGS, and by that I mean I like making STUFF! I am based in Pendle, in the heart of Lancashire UK England.  I enjoy making custom designs and one off  items. I work with a variety of materials including wood, metal, leather  and recycled items to create unique and bespoke products.

I have also supplied a few musical instruments to be sold in music shops

I currently don't run an online shop. However, I very much enjoy a challenge, so if there is something special I can make for you, please send me an email with your ideas and we can discuss the details.

Over the years I've made a very wide variety of "stuff" that ranges from puppets of all kinds, steampunk gadgets, jewellery. I've also built a forge and made lots of other medieval equipment including armour, arrow heads and tools. I've developed an assortment of weaving looms and accessories and designed my own modern furniture, a few unusual musical Instruments and a Penny Farthing. Much, much more than I could possibly fit on this web site.  Please take a look through the gallery to see for yourself and visit my other galleries on Facebook and Deviant Art.

My Background

I left school with few qualifications, but I was good at art, science and wood work, and in 1982 this led me to go on a youth training scheme in cabinet making and wood work. I later became  apprenticed to a joiner which unfortunately due to hard times, I had to leave and went to work in a shoe factory instead. After a good few years I was lucky enough to be asked to do a City & Guilds qualification in shoe manufacture and design. I was so relieved to get out of the factory, that I carried on studying, gaining a Btech and then an HNC. During this time I also took teaching qualifications and worked part time after work as a tutor for Nelson and Colne College on the Mental Health Project, teaching Health and Exercise and puppet making.

The big change came when the factory I was working at closed down and I was left with the choice of moving to Northampton or changing my direction in life. I chose to go to Lancaster University (St Martins) and do a Honours degree in Community and Youth studies. This led  me to where I am now as a youth worker in Pendle. I have not stopped making stuff the entire time and now have a small workshop in my basement. I look through the internet to find inspiration and ideas and also take commissions. I have taught myself many new things this way, along with some help from a few friends who have been very patient with me asking lots of questions.

Please enjoy this site and I will get back to building a new workshop .....There's soooo much more to make!!
